One interesting tidbit I forget to mention at the meeting last week:
Servlets are typically used to augment information delivered via the http protocol (html pages). But they can *also* be used to deliver information via the mail protocol -- among other protocols.
That fact has really interesting implications for the design. If we start with an email client, as Paul recommended. And use an email-based server, as Eugene has mentioned, we can do some *really* interesting server-side stuff, in addition to client-side processing of Lee's Distributed DOM (DDOM).
