Call for Participation: First International Zigzag Workshop Held at ACM
Conference on Hypertext, Aarhus, Denmark Tuesday, August 14, 2001

Zigzag is a novel hypertext paradigm, invented by Ted Nelson, that embodies
ideas about information representation, processing and access. Fundamentally,
ZigZag is about cross-viewable multidimensional lists. It provides an unusual
paradigm for information structures, with interesting new designs and models
for input, viewing, interaction, data structures and programming. Naturally,
this has a number of applications for hypertext and hypermedia; it also offers
its own new and engrossing set of problems. This workshop, a part of the ACM
Hypertext 2001 conference, is aimed at disseminating information about the
ideas behind Zigzag, demonstrating the implementations of those ideas and
discussing their relevance to future hypermedia information systems.

The workshop will consist of presentations and group discussions together with
hands-on demonstrations and tutorials for those unfamiliar with Zigzag. A
tentative list of invited presentations has been drawn up:

Introduction to ZigZag - Ted Nelson

The first ZigZag implementation - Andrew Pam

The Gzigzag project - Tuomas J. Lukka

ZigZag and the Web - Leslie Carr

ZigZag for textual hyperstructures and personal use - Marlene Mallicoat

Designs for ZigZag languages - Antti-Juhani Kaijanaho

Referential hypertext (the Xanadu model) with ZigZag - Ted Nelson
