Well, folks, I just spent a lot of time roaming kurzweilai.net.
I have the following comments:
Great job? Maybe. Glitzy and expensive? Yup.
Visit http://www.alicebot.org/alice_page.htm for a contrasting chatterbot,
ALICE. Both programs seem to have about the same level of comprehension
(whatever that means in a template-based ELIZA-like "natural language" bot).
ALICE can pass your query off to a web search engine, RAMONA suggests you go
see one yourself. RAMONA appears to be integrated with WebBrain, ALICE is
not there yet.
Enough of the syntax. Now, the semantics. Kurzweilai offers a forum. Ok,
this is not positive, but it's not negative either: not too much of a
genepool involved in that forum, and the quality of discussion is not all
that profound either. But, it's rather new. I would like to think that
Kurzweil would attract some profound thinking, and that he would participate
as well.
As an instance of a nicely-linked topic map, WebBrain is a great
demonstration of the power of that technology. Certainly, any OHS should
include something like that. Always keep in mind that the makers of
WebBrain succeeded in securing a patent that makes doing anything like it a
breach of their IPR.
My 0.01 Euros for today.
Jack
