I think one way we can clarify the recent debate over client support is to
clarify our technical objectives as follows:
We are developing two pieces for the OHS. The first is a server
component that manages the knowledge and collaboration, and that
supports multiple clients and views. The second component is a
sophisticated client that integrates sophisticated viewing and
editing capabilities.
So in terms of project focus, initially, we should be creating multiple
client prototypes to demonstrate server functionality, and I expect some
of these clients to be fully functional and usable (and hopefully quite
popular). But we plan on focusing the majority of our own efforts on
developing our own sophisticated client that manages the raw XML without
aid from the viewing engine.
