Along with an open source license, how about a statement like:

The OHS and DKR shall use only "open" recommendations and
specifications. The idea is to use the best of W3C, IS0, ECMA and other
recommendations and standards. While some OHS and DKR features may
require special implementations, overall the product is intended to
comply with current and future XML and related open standards and
recommendations. Where this project encounters improvements and
extensions to recognized standards/recommendations, it is our intent to
submit these to the appropriate controlling bodies for consideration.

Over the long term this provide best accessibility for the widest range
of users and devices, and allow interoperability with other DKR
    projects.

    Thanks and Best Regards,
