I think this is a good idea, Joe, especially if we go with a BSD-style
license. The nice thing about the GPL is that it makes choosing which
software you can use very easy; if it's proprietary, you can't. While we
may want to restrict others from using proprietary libraries or protocols
with our software, we should certainly restrict ourselves to only using
open standards and libraries.
