Agreed. That paper is well worth a read. Get down through
section 2.1, at a minimum. It contains a great collection
of notation mechanisms for all the things you really need
to represent when constructing an ontology.
Note:
When drawing on the board, I plan to continue using
bubbles. (They're easier.) But rectangles have a lot
of advantages in an electronic medium:
* They're easy to do
* Even rudimentary diagramming tools support them
* The provide the maximum amount of space for text
* They "stack well" when a diagram begins getting
complex.
BTW:
SmartDraw is a minimally-expensive shareware drawing tool
that does a bang-up job with UML diagrams, among other
things.
