"The STARS Foundation is a non-profit making organization established in
2001 to deliver initiatives and funds for empowering organizations
working towards the betterment of human beings and support of
educational programmes across every area of human life. The STARS
Foundation organizes the Science, Technology & Arts Royal Summit, a
    three-day event held annually.

The Science, Technology & Arts Royal Summit 2001 (STARS 2001) is being
held between the 13th and 15th of October in Dubai under the patronage
of the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
STARS 2001 has as its mission statement the empowerment of children by
ending discrimination against them, in whatever form, whilst ensuring
that children's rights are protected through a minimum standard of
health, diet, housing, clean water, sanitation and education.

STARS 2001 aims to not only create greater awareness of children's
rights, and greater commitment to meeting those rights amongst all
groups in society, but to raise the funds to put them into action. STARS
2001 aims to be a catalyst in moving world eaders, governments and
corporations from rhetoric to a series of specific commitments, actions
and outcomes that will increase the well-being of children. To that end
this year STARS is directing its global expertise, reach and
fund-raising towards supporting the United Nations Global Movement for
Children and the United Nations Special Session on Children being held
in New York between the 19th and 21st of September, 2001 and the United
National Global Movement for Children's ambition to have established a
ten-year plan for supporting the ten fundamental requirements of
    children worldwide."
