It is now on sourceforge as well.
"CVW is a collaboration software environment that provides a "virtual
building" where teams can communicate, collaborate, and share information,
regardless of their geographic location. CVW takes virtual meetings one step
further and enables virtual co-location through persistent virtual rooms,
each incorporating people, information, and tools appropriate to a task,
operation, or service. To learn more about CVW, see the Collaborative
    Virtual <http://cvw.mitre.org/cvw/info/CVWOverview.php3> Workspace
This puppy talks to everything, including Palm. Transcoding, indeed!
    At http://sourceforge.net/projects/cvw <http://sourceforge.net/projects/cvw>

we see that it involves C, Java, and Tcl. As I recall, those are options --
if I recall rightly, you can do it all in Java, except for PalmOS, I think.
CVW involves chat, conferencing, and file sharing.
