Doug Engelbart argued for the co-evolution of technology and human capabilities. An example of such co-evolution was the notion that a computer-mediated communication system that encouraged greater flexibility and interconnectivity would promote new office environments better supportive of collaborative work. The accompanying photograph is of the "communication pit" made during one of the ARC team's experiments with the "open office." Can you tell us more about this experiment and other similar ones?
